The purpose of this Safety Regulation is to define the minimum safety requirements for the execution of works and services in the CERN area, with the exception of project design.
This Safety Regulation is implemented as from 1 June 2016.

The purpose of this General Safety Instruction is to define the minimum safety requirements for the safety coordination of operations, whether or not managed by CERN, and executed on the CERN site.
Are excluded from the scope of this General Safety Instruction:

- design aspects;

- the technical provisions for the layout and execution of works and services;

- the organization of medical surveillance according to the risks related to the activity or the place where the operation is carried out.

This General Safety Instruction is implemented from 1 June 2016.

The purpose of this Special Safety Instruction is to define the mandate and the minimum qualifications required of Safety Coordinators for 1st category operations.
This Special Safety Instruction is implemented as from 1 June 2016.

Definition is given of confined spaces (tanks, pits, pressure vessels, physics equipment, etc.). Attention is drawn to the dangers arising e.g. from toxic gases or vapours, to the marking (notices), the responsibilities for entry procedures in these spaces (issues of entry permit), the steps to be taken before or during work (isolation of installations), the safety measures to respect, the working conditions, the individual protection and rescue equipment.
