Non-Ionising Radiation (NIR)
HSE supports CERN Departments, projects, and experiments on safety aspects related to non-ionising radiation, for static magnetic fields and time-varying electric, magnetic, and electromagnetic fields.
Main activities
- Advise on applicable requirements and exposure limits.
- Perform measurements, assessments, and interpretation of results.
- Contribute to risk assessments, safety reviews, and incident analysis.
- Support activities and installations with specific NIR constraints.
Support for projects and experiments
- Support NIR safety aspects from the design stage.
- Support non-standard or complex installations with specific NIR constraints.
