TUV Austria Science Award
TÜV AUSTRIA is an international company specialising in technical expertise in the field of safety, security and quality.
Katharina Ceesay-Seitz, who works in the instrumentation & logistics section of the HSE-RP group, has been this year’s winner of the “TUV Austria Science Award” for her work on a verification method in the context of the development of CERN’s future state-of-the-art radiation monitoring system “CROME” (CERN Radiation Monitoring Electronics). CROME’s main purpose is to measure radiation across CERN sites to protect persons and to trigger alarms and interlock signals based on doses calculations and configurable conditions.
As a safety system CROME has to fulfil SIL (Safety Integrity Level) 2 requirements. Katharina has developed a SIL 2 compliant method for the verification of the safety critical System-on-Chip (SoC) at the heart of the CROME monitors.
HSE shares the pride and joy of the recognition of Katharina’s outstanding achievement. Congratulations to Katharina !
