Introduction

As of 1 June 2021, CERN has implemented a four-level COVID-19 scale, determining conditions for on-site access, telework and other measures that concern CERN members of personnel, contractors and visitors. The overarching objective remains to safeguard the health and safety of everybody on the CERN sites while enabling continued effective operation of the Laboratory.

The level in force at any given time may move up or down the scale. It is determined by the incidence rate in the local area, and a qualitative assessment by CERN taking into account, among other parameters, the number of confirmed cases at CERN, vaccination status in the local area, the testing campaign at CERN and the local presence of new variants of the virus.

The presence on site of all categories of personnel and visitors is supported by COVID-19-specific health and safety measures and instructions derived from memoranda by the Director-General.
