F-Gas: Monitoring

Equipment responsible persons shall ensure that the Equipment under their responsibility is duly registered together with its fluid information in the dedicated platform (EAM or EAM light).

F-Gas-filled bottles/tanks purchased via a DAI request must be registered in EAM and their location updated in case of change. To ensure traceability, any change in location of equipment including bottles/tanks, whether purchased through CERN stores or by DAI, must be updated in EAM.

1. Content Registration

After creation of your equipment on EAM, the F-Gas content information must be specified in the Fluid Information tab. This tab is visible for every piece of equipment already registered on the platform.

If the tab is not directly visible on the equipment page, check the More segment (1), at tab level.

In Fluid Details, register each type of gas contained in the equipment. To add a gas entry, click on the “+ button (2). If more than one, ensure that each gas has an entry:

  • Fluid: select the name of the gas
  • Fluid Type: select the gas origin – Virgin / Recycled / Regenerated
  • Quantity: specify the mass in kilograms
  • Out of service: select in case if the gas is no longer used in the equipment. Do not delete it.

Use the deletebutton (3) only in the case of mistake, do not use it when the gas type is no longer used in the equipment.

Contact eam.support@cern.ch for assistance migrating existing data into the equipment’s Fluid Information tab or if the fluid information tab is not visible on your screen.

2. Consumption Data & Operation Declaration

F-Gas manipulation and consumption shall be declared on Work Orders. A step-by-step guide is available for each specific Use Case, under the relevant “Monitoring” chapter:

3. Reporting extraction

F-Gas stock, emission and disposal will be directly extracted from the EAM platform for statistics and monitoring purposes by the F-Gas Management team.

4. Consumption Forecast

Consumption forecast shall be communicated at least once a year to the F-Gas management team (F-gas-management@cern.ch) using the Excel file provided to the Experiments annually by the F-Gas Management team.

5. Statistics and reporting

F-Gas content and consumption data are then extracted bi-annually for statistics into Power BI by HSE-ENV.

For any question, please contact f-gas-management@cern.ch.
