Guven Nergiz
I came from Türkiye. I am a CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) Engineer with more than 5 years of experience in various CFD codes and techniques. My expertise is mostly in modeling Heat and Mass Transfer problems. I am also interested in Design of Experiments techniques, data analysis and machine learning for predictive model generation. Before CERN, I was working in an engineering consulting firm and supporting Defense, Automotive and Aviation projects. In my current position as a Fellow, I will be working on FCC Feasibility Project.Outside of the work, I like playing video games (Esports) and travelling different places.
Nathalie Del Vicario
My name is Nathalie Del Vicario, I am French with Italian parents. I have been at CERN for 20 years as staff member, holding various roles in the Finance and the IT departments in the domain of Personnel Resources and administrative project management. I am very happy to join the HSE Unit as contract manager and to meet new colleagues.
I have 3 children, my youngest was born last year. In my free time I enjoy sharing time with my family and friends, hiking, practicing yoga, Pilates, listening to music and many other simple things.
Francisco Centeno
Hello! My name is Franciso Centeno, I’m 25 years old, and come from Portugal.
I was previously working at CERN in the IT department and recently joined as a fellow in HSE-RP-CS section, working as a cluster administrator and full stack developer.I enjoy outdoor activities such as climbing, hiking, reading, and travelling in my free time.

Iqra Shahzadi
My name is Iqra Shahzadi. I am from Pakistan.
My field of specialization is Chemical & Process Engineering. Previously, I was working in Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission as a Safety Engineer from last five years.
In this new role at CERN, I am working in HSE-OHS-PE group as a General Safety Engineer. My main functions in this group are as a chemical safety expert, expert in general safety matters and member of the Project & Experiment Safety Support (PESS) team.
In my leisure time, I love to do travelling, explore new places & eateries and internet surfing.
Jules Grandvillemin
Nice to meet you, I am Jules Grandvillemin, and I come from the other side of the Jura: Besançon (France). I am studying in two complementary Master’s degrees: one in geography and the other in spatial analysis engineering. As a technical student, I will be providing (1) technical assistance to the HSE Operational Response Project (HOR), (2) creating response and evacuation plans and, finally, (3) updating the GIS of the Fire and Rescue Service.
Although I have always worked, in addition to my studies (student job, design office), I also had two internships at CERN (within HSE) where I carried out impact studies and worked with environmental engineers (mapping, diagnosis), surveyors (topography, soil and subsoil evaluation) and, finally, safety engineers (mapping, data collection). I also did an internship at the Laboratory of Urban Sociology (LaSUR, EPFL) on transport and mobility issues. In my free time, I am passionate about writing and sports.

David Tshilumba
Bonjour à tous !
I am David Tshilumba, 36 years old and originally from Belgium. I have a background of mechanical engineering. I joined CERN as a Fellow for the first time back in 2014 in the EN-MME group. After that I worked for 5 years in the nuclear industry in Belgium as a technical coordinator. Now I am joining CERN again as a mechanical safety engineer in HSE-OHS-PE.
In my free time I enjoy Radio-controlled scaled modelling, listening to music and spending time with my family.
Anastasiia Ovdiienko
Pryvit! I am Anastasiia, originally from Ukraine. I studied a Bachelor’s degree in Foreign Trade Management and Master’s degree in Logistics Management. I am glad to become part of the HSE team, as a Junior Fellow I will be providing technical assistance to the HSE Operational Response Project (HOR) led by Benoît Delille and Pierre Bonnal. First time I joined CERN as Administrative Student in EN-EA-AS (now BE-EA-EC) in 2018 providing administrative support to the Section Leader and managing the logistic processes in the cabling workshop. Before coming to CERN, I worked in various roles at DHL in Germany, Egis and other local companies in Ukraine. In my free time, I enjoy stretching, badminton, acro-yoga, and contemporary art. Also, my big passion is playing the piano. We will be glad to get to know you better!
Benjamin L’Hermitte
My name is Benjamin Roure-L’Hermitte, just married since this summer 😊. I am 31 years old. I joined CERN in HSE department as Deputy Department Planning Officer (DDPO) since july. I support the DPO with the planification of HSE budget department. Before, I used to work as Financial Controller since 2017. In my free time, I like playing chess and piano. Also, I like sport and nutrition, new tech (AI, Crypto..) and I am very curious by nature.

Guillaume Redares
Hey everyone !
Some of you may already know me but here’s a little introduction.
My name is Guillaume, I’m 21 and originally from Aix-en-Provence (in the south where the weather is great). I recently joined the HSE-ENV-EP team alongside Jordan regarding the noise issues for the next two years. This is the first time I got a job as I completed my studies last June at the University of Côte d’Azur in Nice. I’ve got many hobbies such as travelling, partying, meet new people or listening to music but the biggest one is definitely sports (all of them). I’m keen on doing it, watching it, talking about it… Also, spending time with family is a very important thing for me. Finally, I’m very proud to be part of your team and I’m sure this new chapter will hold amazing things. See you soon 😉
Laurent Noth
Hello! My name is Laurent Noth, 21 years old. I joined CERN in HSE-ENV-EM after completing my training as technician in industrial systems at the CPNV in Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland. My job is to ensure the proper functioning of the network of monitors linked to CERN’s environmental monitoring program. In my free time I like to read, ski, windsurf and play guitar. I have wanted to work at CERN since I was little, making this dream come true is incredible.
Simon Davit
My name is Simon, I’m 23 years old. I come from Farges, France, which is 15 minutes away from CERN, so I’ve always lived in the area and I know CERN since I’m a kid.
I work in the Environment group as a laboratory technician. I’m responsible to collect and analyze the water reject of CERN and his surroundings. I also help the Radio Protection for the preparation of some samples.
This is my first job after my studies but I work at CERN since 2019 but it was under another contract.
Outside of work, I love sport, my favorites are rugby, mountain biking, climbing, hiking and skiing. And I’m always listening to music.
I’m also part of an association which organized several event per year to make the village more lively since 7 years.

Mats Saillez
Hi, my name is Mats, I’m 18 years old, Belgian, and currently studying chemical engineering at UCL. I am an intern in the OHS group, working on ODH risk assessments. I am really excited to be here and see as much as I can at CERN and learn from my experiences here and the people around me. In my free time I enjoy listening to music, playing chess and football.
Andrea Camerini
My name is Andrea, I am 26, Italian, and just graduated in Nuclear Engineering M.Sc. at Politecnico di Milano. I am so excited to join CERN as a Junior Fellow in the RP group, working at the Radioactive Waste Management section. I will focus on the opening of new pathways to properly dispose some types of radioactive waste produced at CERN’s experimental facilities: I think this is a crucial task to pursue the sustainability of research activities!
Outside work, I love motorsports, climbing, skiing, and also playing the guitar and singing. I am really passionate about energy topics and nuclear technologies, and I try to spread the knowledge on these issues by collaborating with a science dissemination association.

Leticia Braga Da Rosa
My name is Letícia, I am 24 years old, Brazilian, and a Master’s student in Physics. I will be working as a summer student in the Radiation Protection group, under the supervision of Pierre Carbonéz, on a project about radiation detection. I am really excited about working at CERN, it has always been a dream to be here, and what motivated me to pursue a career as a physicist. I hope to learn as much as possible, exchange experiences, make new connections, and make the most of this opportunity. I am passionate about nature and hiking, camping, and traveling. I also love music and cooking.
Jean-Paul Bergoeing
Hello! My name is Jean-Paul, 32 years old, half Chilean-half French (love has no frontiers!). I am a passionate geologist, interested in natural resources and the impacts of our activities on the environment. Our planet is just amazing; it provides to us everything we need. Sometimes we forget this and our desire for progress leads us to cause major problems. However, progress is needed.
Collaborating in the HSE unit represents for me a concrete opportunity to be part of the solution so that we can achieve this progress in a more sustainable way with the environment.
During my free time, I like to be in nature. I love to be in contact with rocks and vertical walls and spend time surrounded with magnificent mountains, where people become more humble. The beach and piña colada are also nice!

Raphael Neugebauer
I’m 27 years old and come from Vienna Austria. At CERN I’m a Doctoral Student under the supervision of Matteo, so I’m working in RP-CS and will be working on further development of already existing characterization methods. Before I came here I did my Masters in Physics at the University of Vienna.
When I’m not at CERN I really enjoy the area around here by going to the Jura mountains, taking a bike ride or going to the lake. Other than sports I love to play (guitar) and listen to music. I’m really looking forward for the next years I’ll be spending at CERN.

Yousef Husein
My name is Yousef Husein, it is an honour for me, to be a part of this big family in CERN, and especially in the FIRIA project as a radiation protection physicist in-order to participate in performing the radiological environmental impact assessment. My educational background encompasses a PhD in engineering science, experience as a nuclear engineer in JRTR and a lecturer in MEPhI for a total of more than 6 years.
Christian Buscham
My name is Christian Buscham and I am a 33-year old professional firefighter from Germany. I started my journey with the CERN Fire and Rescue Service on April 1st. Since the age of 14, I am a firefighter, having been a youth firefighter and volunteer firefighter as well as emergency medical technician for many years. I completed a three-year apprenticeship as industrial firefighter with a large chemical corporation. Later on, I served as a firefighter for the military in an international setting. The last years, I served the Berlin Fire and Rescue Service in Germany’s capital. I hold a Bachelor in Fire and Emergency Services as well as in Aviation Emergency Management and a Master in Disaster Management & Risk Governance. When off, I enjoy spending time in the nature, hiking, skiing, travelling. I applied for the CERN Fire and Rescue Service since I love to perform in international, diverse settings with people from different cultures and backgrounds.
Zeltser Dimitry
My name is Zeltser Dimitry, 34-years old, married, and have two small children, I come from the far away state of Israel.
I have been working as a professional firefighter for six years now. My employment at CERN Fire and Rescue Service began on April 1st. I am eager to be working at cern as I come from a pretty different mentality and cultural point of view on the workplace and job-related policies.I hold a Bachelor in Biology from the Israeli Ben Gurion University. The knowledge from my degree helps me understand some scientific elements in the fire brigade duties.
At home and in my spare time, I enjoy jogging through the wilderness. I also enjoy watching movies and tv shows and some occasional pc gaming.
I found CERN Fire and Rescue Service appealing since I am attracted to a challenging working environment. I am always in favor of having an opportunity to continue learning and gain new techniques and overall discoveries. I’m glad since Cern HSE-FRS gave me that opportunity.
Anastasios Anagnostou
My name is Anastasios and I am from Greece. I joined the CERN Fire and Rescue Service on April 1st. I have been a professional firefighter since 2013 and a volunteer rescuer for the Hellenic Red Cross since 2015. I also hold a bachelor degree in IT and Telecommunications, which has proven to be a useful asset throughout my professional life. I spend my free time working out, hiking, playing music, keeping up to date with technology, windsurfing (which is my latest passion) and of course enjoying a coffee or drink with friends or meeting interesting people.
Ionuț Ahrițculesei
I’m Ionuț Ahrițculesei, one of the new firefighters of the CERN FRS. After over 15 years of military career as firefighter, paramedic and rescue diver in Romania, I was surprised at the beginning, but then determined to accept and embrace the opportunity of working at CERN. I’m happy to start this new journey with my beautiful, supportive family beside me, and we want to make the best of it.
New firefighters
On 1 April, seven new firefighters joined the service and began their induction period: Anastasios Anagnostou (Greece), Ionut Ahritculesei (Romania), Mehdi Bourahla (France), Christian Buscham (Germany), Nicolas Farcy (Belgium), Nicolas Tchernomoroff (France), Dimitry Zeltser (Israel). Welcome to them all!
As a new measure introduced this year, they all wear a distinctive red T-Shirt and red jacket with the inscription “Firefighter in induction” during this period before receiving their formal blue uniform to mark the completion of their training after nine weeks.

Andrea Gomes
Hi everybody, I’m Andrea from Italy and I’m a final year master student in nuclear engineering (Politecnico di Milano). I’ll be working here as a technical student on a project related to the detection of radioactive materials on vehicles leaving CERN sites. I love nature, mountains and their exploration. Karate black belt, scout since I was a child, today I’m a scout leader. I like challenges and I always try to go beyond my limits.
Viktoria Siigur
Hello! I am Viktoria, 22 years old. I joined the HSE-TS-CS team as a software developer in the beginning of March. I come from the smallest town of Estonia called Mõisaküla, but my university studies have brought me to several cities in Europe. I got the Bachelor’s degree in IT Systems Development from the Tallinn University of Technology, but part of the studies I completed in St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences. Currently I am a Master’s student in Computer Science at the University of Vienna. My free time is usually filled with music, because I have played guitar since I was 8. It has always been my dream to visit CERN and it feels surreal to be part of it.
Berta Ruiz Palenzuela
My name is Berta Ruiz Palenzuela, I am an Industrial Engineer in Materials Science and Engineering. I am a Project associate at CERN since January 2022. In this new period, I am in the CARE project in which we perform characterization and study of polymeric materials as part of cables subjected to degradation processes, mainly radiation. In this project, I am part of the HSE-OHS group in the Infrastructure & Building Safety Engineering (IB) section.
Marco Tisi
Hi! my name is Marco, I’m from Bergamo, Italy, I graduated from Politecnico di Milano in Nuclear Engineering back in 2017, then I did my PhD on the production of secondary neutron radiation by laser-driven ion sources in the Institute of Radiation Medicine of the Helmholtz Munich. I recently joined the RP-AS section as Senior Fellow to work on FIRIA, a multidisciplinary project that aims at evaluating conventional and radiological risks associated to fire scenarios in different CERN experimental facilities. I am passionate about hiking, and I love to discover new places!

Federica Bortoletto
My name is Federica Bortoletto and I am from Treviso, Italy. I am a Material Scientist and I joined CERN as a Junior Fellow in February 2022. Within the HSE-OHS group, I’m working at the Infrastructure & Building Safety Engineering (IB) Section. My task is to characterize and study the mechanical degradation of polymeric components of cables, which are constantly subjected to radiation in tunnels.
Francisco Ogallar Ruiz
I am Francisco Ogallar Ruiz. I studied a Bachelor’s degree in Physics and a Master’s degree in Physics and Technology of Radiation at the University of Granada (Spain), with a focus on computational physics. I joined the EN-STI group at CERN in 2017 to work on the optimization of the physics performances of the third-generation target of the n_TOF facility through Monte Carlo simulations. I carried out my PhD in the HSE-RP group at CERN as part of the FIRIA project, developing a simulation software to assess the out-diffusion of radionuclides from activated material exposed to high temperatures. I just started as a Senior Fellowship in the same group and will be working on the development of the FLUKA code.
Johanna Picard
My name is Johanna, I started working at CERN as the new administrative student in HSE-TS-AS in February. I have been studying in Lyon, France for the past two years for my master’s degree. Being able to gain professional experience from an intercultural place such as the CERN is a chance and I am feeling lucky to be part of such an organization.

Hi, my name is Cyrielle, I work for the dosimetry service at Building 55. Before that I worked 6 years at CERN as a security guard. I’m so happy to continue my career at CERN, I really like this place.

Sarath Kundumatatthil Mohanan
I joined HSE-RP-IL as a senior fellow from December 2021. Previously I was a PhD student in the same division from June 2018. During my research I designed different versions of a low current measurement ASIC, named ACCURATE, for radiation monitoring front end electronics. I will continue to characterize the ASIC in different application scenarios and will design the next version of the ASIC to be used with the CROME system. I am from India. I enjoy travels and hiking during the weekends.

Safouane El Idrissi
Hi everyone, I’m Safouane, Radiation Protection technician and football lover.
I started at CERN in 2013 for the CERAP company which works within the RP group. During the Long-Shutdown 2 (LS2) I worked as a temporary worker on the CERN experiments within the HSE/RP/AS section. Since November 2021, I started my contract as staff member in the RP group. I am very happy that my experience at CERN is being extended.
